Welcome to Dowdales Arts Online

Dowdales School is a Performing Arts College situated in Dalton-in-Furness, a few miles south of the beautiful English Lake District. The school has extensive links with the local community and these are highlighted in its unique commitment to education through Music, Dance and Drama. All lower school pupils receive tuition in all 3 disciplines in the school curriculum.

Outside the school day, teachers, parents and younger pupils are active in community-based ventures such as Furness Music Centre which welcomes students  and adults of all ages and abilities from across the region and Dowdales Community Dance.  Since we became a specialist school we have been developing  effective and exciting partnerships with Regional and National institutions  including the Royal Opera House and the Royal Shakespeare Company and  amongst other things we have recently been working with Cumbria Arts in Education , Museums Libraries and Archives and  the Arts Council to pilot an extended schools project representing the North West of England in a national initiative. We have  also been working  recently  with the National Youth Theatre on a national project called Identity 1000.
