Welcome to Furness Music Centre. We are a true community music centre in the Furness Peninsula in South Cumbria, catering for all ages and abilities of people who want to make music with others.
If you are an orchestral or choral musician, you may like to join one of our groups at our Saturday Music School, and enjoy ensemble music or singing in a choir. If you a music lover who is looking to learn more about concerts in the region, there are many events throughout the year that you are welcome to attend, and we are certain that you will find something to suit your musical preference!
We offer a two year twilight study course for the AQA GCSE Music qualification - open to all ages.

FURNESS MUSIC CENTRE'S 4TH ANNUAL CHAMBER MUSIC WEEKEND was a tremendous success with John Mellor (clarinet), John Durrant (trumpet), Michael and Edward Walton (violins) and Jocelyn Boyer Campbell (flute) tutoring 7 groups across the weekend.

Chamber Groups or Summer Tour Orchestra: 11.15am - 12.15pm
Community Choir - Saturday 12.30-2pm

Fees for 2008-9: Orchestra or Choir £20 per term / Chamber Group Coaching £15 per term / All 3 sessions £50 Discounts available for low income households - please ask in person

March 14th - Choral Concert with Fiery Furness & Community Choirs, 7pm Dalton Parish Church. Kicks off the region's Shakespeare Festival. Beautiful musical settings of Shakespearian text spanning 5 centuries. Tickets £7 / £5 in advance from the music centre. £8 / £6 on the door. Under 10s FREE.
April 1st - James Bond & Sinatra Night - themed concert, 7pm Dowdales School (tickets £3.50/£3)

Get Ahead with Music GCSE
Thursdays 4 - 6.30pm, Dowdales School
2 Year Course involving performance, composition and listening. Covers a wide range of music and genres. This is an EXPRESS course - Students should play an instrument or sing solo confidently, and read music.
